Yep, here we go.
Apologies for the unsightly photos.
I took these to explain to someone,
“What kind of brushes are good for oil painting?”
To this innocent question, I responded with a straight face,
“Stiff brushes with a firm texture ( ˙-˙ )”
What’s with this face ( ˙-˙ )…?
But but but!
Because canvas is ultimately fabric, I end up almost pounding on it rather than painting.
It feels more like hammering the canvas than painting…
So it really takes a lot of physical strength! ᕦ(ò_óˇ)ᕤ
Sometimes, I find myself out of breath while painting in oils (゚д゚)…
Especially with larger pieces.
I tend to select a lot of thinner brushes without realizing it.
If you want to paint in a rougher style, there are bigger brushes available, so I recommend choosing those if that’s your style^ - ^
Boar bristle brushes are flexible but firm, with strong tips, making them easy to paint with.
Nylon brushes are perfect for drawing straight lines, but they’re not great for creating natural textures.
Ahhh.
I could easily write 2000 characters just talking about brushes.
Yep, that’s long.
I don’t like long-winded explanations.
Maybe I’ll break it up into smaller parts (╹◡╹)
So, yeah—brushes! I’ve got a ton of favorite brushes⭐︎⭐︎
